Welcome To Chilwell Olympia Karate School

Our school has a long and successful history, founded in 1974, which makes us one of the longest established karate clubs in Nottingham. We have helped numerous students achieve black belt level and beyond and also the school has produced many competitors who have represented Great Britain in European and World Championships.

We are affiliated to Shotokan Karate International (headed by Soke Hirokazu Kanazawa 10th Dan), which is one of the largest karate federations in the world with over three million members in over 80 countries.

The chief instructor of Shotokan Karate International European Federation is world-renowned Japanese Master Shiro Asano 9th Dan who regularly teaches at Chilwell Olympia Karate School and assesses all gradings, ensuring that your achievements will be recognised worldwide.

The School's chief instructor is sensei Pasq Mura 7th Dan who has won gold medals at World, European and National levels.

What Our Students Think

What Our Students Think

Sensei Mura came to our school for half a term to introduce karate to our children. The sessions were easily accessible for all children from Reception to Year 6. Children took quickly to learning moves and enjoyed taking part in a new sport. Some of our children now hope to join a karate school. Pasq really focuses on performing the movements needed and ensured that everyone was engaged for the whole session. Most of all the children had a great deal of fun whilst being very active. Thank you Se...

I started Shotokan Karate aged 29 and 28 years later I am still loving it. It is never too late to start karate and as the tigers show never too early. Chilwell Karate is a friendly inclusive club which we all take pride in representing at regional, national and international level.

Guy Stephenson 4th Dan (instructor)

Rishi has gained so much in the last year with the Chilwell Olympia Karate School, Tigers group. He has learnt to focus well, his physical and motor skills have developed rapidly and it is an art beneficial in making a well-rounded person. The lessons are just the right combination of structured activities and games which the children enjoy at this age and encourage a healthy attitude. Rishi looks forward to continue his journey towards learning more at the Chilwell Olympia Karate School.

Yet once a week became twice or three times a week and she did not like to be late at all and I realised that this was not just any activity for her. Just before she was grading for black belt in Year 8, I asked her why she liked to go karate training. ...

After several years away, I was warmly welcomed back by Pasq and everyone else at Chilwell. I immediately saw an improvement in my fitness. The classes are engaging and rewarding and I would recommend karate to anyone looking to try out martial arts.
